They are scared of matches taking too long. I have learned to accept 3v3 despite preferring 6v6. It also lets a few pokemon shine more since it can reward immediate impact over longevity.

Well team preview was a mistake that should have been corrected two gens ago so that's not saying much. You can also just game the system by bringing in teams that don't care about match ups and can execute the same strategy against just about anything like sand or hail teams.
