What were they thinking?

"Aegislash"
>We really thought of Aegislash as a Pokémon that would battle using primarily physical attacks. But recently, there has been an increase in Aegislash using special moves, like the Steel-type move Flash Cannon.

>Design a pokemon with the intend of making it primarily a physical attacker
>Give it 150 special attack

aegislash if he had all its stats at 150 at the same time

>It is rather mysterious, but Japanese players still tend to be strong, I feel.
wew

But its only one form or the other, right? It doesn't have both attack and defense stats at the same time.
>>30215274
It's slow enough that it usually switches into blade form after taking damage, and King's Shield has priority so it switches back into shield form before taking damage again. It effectively has a 720 BST.

Smogonfags use Physical Aegislash in Battle Maison, and I must say thatit is WAY better as a Physical Attacker, after a Swords Dance you can nuke almost any Pokémon with Shadow Sneak. It even helped me to finally rematch Wally in Alpha Sapphire(aka defeat a Chatealine in 50 streaks)

>Shields Down is Stance Change done right
>Power Construct is Zen Mode done right
>Schooling and Emergency Exit are Defeatist done right

I think they didn't want to restrict our freedom.
>>30215073
What's the typical sets for this thing anyways? I only see special ones even though it has SD and Sneak combo so whats up with that?
t. competitive nub
>>30216273
special moves means you can ignore wisp which is the ideal counterplay to aegis since ks doesnt block status
that and shadow ball is just flat better than its other offensive options
>>30215951
>Shields Down is Stance Change done right
Not really. They're both good abilities, but the difference is that with Stance Change, you can shift between being in a defensive state or an offensive state whenever you please.
If anything, Stance Change > Shields Down.
I will agree for the other 2, though.
>>30216809
Well no shit, but I think in that instance he meant that the concept was better. Stance Change is broken as hell whereas Shields Down is actually interesting mechanically.
>>30216809
I think what anon meant by shields down being stance change done right was that It's not actually broken. Stance change is obviously the much better ability of the two.
