so each pokemon has 3 ability slots, 2 normal and 1 hidden. when a pokemon evolves, it will get the ability its evolution has thats in the same slot as its prevo. so a pokemon with a hidden ability will always get its hidden ability when it levels up. in your rexample, cubone needs lightning rod to keep it for a-marowak.
of course also some pokemon only have 1 ability or whatever, not all of them have 3.

If you're chaining Pokemon without Sturdy:
False Swipe, Adrenaline Orb, Double Team helps a lot too. I kill the Pokes after 12-15 turns. Use Role-play or Skill Swap or whatever to check the abilites after 60-70 chains. Keep going until you find one.

If you're chaining Pokemon that explode:
This sucks.
You need a Pokemon with Damp, that probably won't learn False Swipe or an ability-checking move. I used a Poliwrath with Brick Break, Double Team and Body Slam for chaining Geodudes. Not that it worked.

I don't think Bruxish and Wimpod are compatible, but if they were than that's all you would need to do.

Its a bit easier to get Aqua Jet on wimpod in sun than moon, simply get the tirtouga fossil, save before reviving it, and keep soft resetting until you get male. It comes with aqua jet and can be bred with Wimpod.

Otherwise you're best bet is Surskit.
