Ash/Misty did have the same moments in the original, only difference is 4kids added some more and made some of it more blatant than it should have been.

Still the obvious stuff with Danny and Rudy in Orange Islands, TR teasing Ash/Misty on the blimp after Brock left with Ivy, the second movie, and her last episode are the same in Japanese.

Its not surprising. Back then the anime was planned to end and most kids shows have a romance between the two main characters. Its entirely logical that if the anime ended after only a few years Ash/Misty was a thing before Shudo killed it in Johto.

Brock's Japanese VA is still on the show to this day voicing Wobbufett, and he voiced Greninja back in XY.

Brock left the anime back in 2010. His VA is still around 6 years and 3 gens later. Why do they keep his VA around permanently when the voices for all the main female characters and Cilan/Clemont, etc. aren't brought back for any other roles after they leave?

those might have hit emuland but they are bootlegs here in the west, Miramax released a set that had 4-7 in America but it was such a low shipment triple digit that all thats out there are bootlegs too.
Even then you have to deal with the fact that both Viz who handled 1-3 and 10-13's releases and even Miramax with their release refuse to put in any special features, shorts, subtitles, or any other features from the DVD release.

Oddly enough after that movie they also stopped giving Ash's companions roles in movies. Dawn got some decent screentime in the DP movies but none of them centered around her.

Then neither Iris/Cilan nor Serena/Bonnie/Clemont got any type of roles in theirs either. Come to think of it Max and May are the only two companions to get large sized movie roles.

It suffers from the same problem as the Hoopa movie: the climax starts halfway through it, leaving the latter half extremely slow and drawn out. If it was either shorter or had more plot it would be fine. As it is it's still better than Hoopa.

I didn't see any of the BW movies, but I heard those were pretty bad.

Of the OS movies, the Celebi movie was the weakest but not altogether terrible. The AG movies are a mixed bag with both Jirachi and Manaphy being on the low end of the tier.

The Darkrai movie was pretty good, but the rest of the DP movies all blur together for me.

Well, Hoenn onwards had contests as variant styles of Pokemon showcases/battling, Sinnoh had a bump up in animation and had a competent Ash and then Tobias happened, and we don't want to talk about Best Wishes, because 1) earthquake messed some stuff up and 2) they tried to mush BW & B2W2 in the same series and 3) soft reboot.

Kalos had major animation bumps in their gym battles, no more speed lines, a retroactive childhood friend with her own idol career arc and best girl companion Bonnie/Eureka. Also, made the relatively boring villain team from the XY games into something remarkable. Seen by /vp/ as pretty great except for a couple of tiny little bits what made the entire internet explode.

Jury's still out on Sun/Moon, but nothing that incites outright hostility yet.
