Well, you get battle points even if you lose.

While it may seem long, this is probably the best way to grind for BP if you don't have any well EV trained pokemon with you.

I did the battle royal a couple of times to see if it was just me or not, but all 3 contestants would only attack me, the idea is good, but the execution was terrible.

Well to be fair, it's no where said it'd also raise any underleveled pokemon below level 50 to level 50. That didn't stop me from checking though and realizing it's been a long time since I saved so I had watch my Brionne, Charjabug and Rockruff get their asses handed to them.
