Do Totem battles make Nuzlocke runs essentially impossible in Sun and Moon?

2 v 1 against the grass Totem, which was two evolved Pokemon, almost wiped me.

I'm going to almost wipe or wipe each time beyond this point.

It seems like without over-leveling you're fucked.

Honestly not a fan of rule 4, I use a 1 shopping trip per town myself.

I really wish they gave an option to turn off aimee/refresh bonuses, I love using it to just bond with my 'mon.

This has been the first run where I had to use items in battle because normally I make it a rule to only use healing items outside of battle. Hau's Raichu nearly wiped me the first time I came across it because STAB psychic tore through my team while electro ball would kill everything else. Picking Poplio as your starter is hard mode.

I intend to survive on items i find around the overworld only. Rule 4 is only there because in some games don't have enough pokeballs to be found in them so i don't want to gimp myself even harder. Don't intend to abuse it, i'll probably waste my market visit by the time i hit Violet City because i'm starting to run out of pokeballs

Also i broke a record, never had someone dying so early before. Jesus christ this run looks like its going to be a total nightmare already.

Yeah poisoning Laurantis is the way to go. I used toxic, switched, and then protected whenever solar blade would trigger and he was gone. Didn't kill trumbeak till after killing Laurantis do never saw castform.

Seems to me that if you can't kill totems in the first turn the fight against them gets a lot harder.

Also I've come to have an undying hatred for tentacool calling for friends. Fuck them. Fuck wrap. Fuck toxic spikes. Fuck confusion from water pulse.

eh its still doable
but you have way less leeway for mistakes

way harder to recover from near wipes

I'm wondering if I should classify route 1 as three separate areas or as one big route.

Depends. I decided to do if the screen transitions like from route 1 to the trainer school. But route 1 around Iki Town and route 1 around Kukui's house are the same area because the screen doesn't transition nor is marked as a new area.

Maybe two areas. The world map seems to treat Route 1 and Route 1: Hau'oli Outskirts as separate places.

Poplio is a guaranteed sing though, which makes SOS battles easy.

Is it agreeable that Totem Laurantis is serious threat to a nuzlocke run?
