Can we exchange clothes at all between games somehow? Are they ABSOLUTELY version exclusive?

When you upgrade your festival plaza to 12, you can request your guests clothes. It's a pain, but you can get all the clothing in both gens.

And as far as I know, only white things can be dyed, and it looks like some white versions of clothes are version exclusive, which is an extremely cucky move.
Though I'm not sure how accurate this list is.
