The funny thing is that in previous Gens, the Elite Four not showing up anywhere until you reach the Pokemon League was the rule, with only a few exceptions like Flint, Malva...and actually that's it.
So it's amusing that in this Gen, 3/4 of the Elite Four were prominent, and then this chick shows up out of nowhere, the only hint that she even exists being some NPC from the DEMO.

All of the E4 in this game have a shitmon as their ace, but hers isn't even a somewhat rare or interesting shitmon.

Yes, but right before you're taken to face the E4 Nanu tells you that most kids don't make it that far and the final trial is to face all four Kahunas in a row just like the Elite Four anyway. So by all rights it doesn't seem like such an easy thing to do in-universe much like conquering the leagues in other regions. Kukui just made the league itself official in standing like the other regions had and instated an Elite Four.
