I still don't really get it. If the game is only hard if you intentionally gimp yourself, doesn't that make it not hard?

it's not a universal experience guy
some people use high tier (old) pokemon so it seems okay
others use low tier (new) pokemon so it's hard
Some people have balanced teams
some don't
some use advanced strats
some don't

but the general consensus is that it's hard for a Pokemon game.
Which is why hardly anyone nuzlockes it

Also not really rule, but I stopped using refresh too much once I realized that my Brionne was getting too lucky with its refresh bonuses.

I am only going to use the standard Pokeball to catch everything. This is the one rule I have.

No exp share
Set
No Refresh
No healing items in battle
Fight every trainer in a route without going back to the pokecenter

The only rules I put in place are ones that make me use new pokemon. I could have easily used some older gen favorites like Hariyama and fucking Firebird holy shit man, and Greninja because I fucking love those things. But I keep to the new ones and they grow on me.
