I haven't used Golisopod because I fucked up trying to catch Wimpod at Akala island, but battling against Guzma confirmed my fears for this thing.

It doesn't even wait until dishing out damage, as soon as I hit it Golisopod just switched out.

I don't know if First Impression has priority, but if it doesn't then this guy is just flat out unusable.

Choice if you are nasty, Expert Belt if you want to hit for coverage. The item really depends on when and where you want to use him.

Choice if you want to lead or mid-game to take out speedy things that don't like Water or Bug Priority. Expert Belt for mid to late-game sweep to clean up.

Go real late-game sweep with him as an ANCHOR so you don't have to worry about his ability cutting his life in half. If you can have the rest of your team clean up any potential counters, he's pretty dangerous.

And I see, you're referring to First Impression, Aqua Jet, and Sucker Punch. Yeah, it makes no sense since
1) Emergency Exit activates just once and at a specific, critical threshold of HP which your opponent fully controls since it's dependent on what attack/damage output they decide to deal whereas U-Turn can be used as many times as you want at any HP value
2) Its priority moves are all predictable and once the appropriate mon is switched into, your priority move (or even regular attack if electing not to go for priority) will do jackshit; however, U-Turn lets you pivot out despite your opponent's switch so you still maintain momentum
3) It's not a priority U-Turn at all since it's only switching out after taking damage, just like regular U-Turn given its abysmal Speed.
