I took Mimikyu, M Metagross, and Primarina to grind out the Royal fight and I was still only winning every second one at the Master Rank.
I think the best strategy is picking mons bulky enough that the ai feels it can't ko them and having healing effects so that you aren't always the lowest hp mon on the field.
If you get something with low hp, that's it, you're losing a pokemon because you will always be targeted and trying to switch in a new pokemon in means it will end up getting hit and having less hp and continues being targeted.

Seems like Toxapex would be good for this.
Shield and protect yourself and poison anyone who hits you, then crit-Venoshock whoever got poisoned. Black Sludge for healing.

Nah it's ok, i just beat normal with no "EV/IV" team, just tapu koko and his ultra beast friend.

As soon as you get a good team you should be fine with few try even if the AI hates you.
