Technicallyu speaking, in human reproduction, balls can ONLY be passed down by males because they are capable of donating the Y chromosome while the females will always donate the X chromosome.

It's probably something in the Field group since it's immensely huge.
Second place used to be Water 1, and it probably still is.
From there you can chain breed to almost anything, I believe.

Why else would there only be one (1) of each Apricorn ball and only fifty Beast Balls available in the game?
Besides, doesn't Ditto's catch rate depend on what it transform into? It shouldn't be too hard to get a high percentage of success catching if you bring a False Swiper.

The only way a genderless Pokemon can breed is with Ditto. So it wouldn't make sense for both those things to be true.
