It definitely works. I used a male salandit in my playthrough, and the difference eviolite made was huge. Same level (around 25 when I finally went back and got the eviolite), but it was super noticeable. It works.

These things were fucking spawns from hell with their high speed and dragon rage this early in the game. It's literally like enemies in FE Awakening Lunatic+ with Luna+ and Hawkeye. What doesn't help is that they are in the same habitat as other useful fire types like fletchling and themselves who would be great pokemon to use against Lurantis. Good thing I wasn't playing a nuzlock or there would have been many tears and rage.
