Looking for someone who has done arm9 before. I'm confused on which way I should restore.
I'm in the last stages of getting arm9 working and I'm trying to figure out what to do here since I had previous .cia games with lots of data that i want to keep. I need my FW back updated to 11.whatever so I can run moon. and I want to keep my data from XY/ORAS .cias. Do I need to go with this emunand restore or just proceed and do #1 step here since I previously backed up something like an emunand and I'm currently on 2.1.0 after doing the previous downgrades and all that. 2 of my 3 cia gifts are currently showing up. is it safe to assume that step 1 will lead to a restore where all 3 are put back?

The guide btw tells you to back up everything beforehand, so idk if you get to keep your shit, but it is too late now anyway (well you could try and backup now, but idk if you can grab oras/xy data on 2.1 or if they are even still there)

No but if you're going to hack in a pokemon there's no reason not to just make it the best it can be in case you want to breed.

The only reason you want a hacked pokemon outside of a shiny is to have a "best version" without autism breeding.

not entirely sure if I had it before. I had basic homebrew working and I used ctr-httpwn to go online. but I tried the "move emunand" option to backup emunand and it failed saying my sd card wasn't set up for emunand. I did do a backup of something earlier on in the process so I'm starting to think that backup should have my data on it and step 1 might just restore from that.

Every single game makes it a bit easier to have something whether it's an easier way to get IVs or EVs or abilities but ultimately it's still rolling the dice and the chances you get EVERYTHING (IVs, EVs, Abilities, Nature, and sometimes egg moves) as optimally as possible is still super fucking low.

Asking why you're putting maximum IVs on a injected pokemon is like going "why are you giving it the best nature".

You can fill entire boxes with that shit it doesn't matter. If you're going to be asking instead of injecting yourself (which I imagine you are since you want QR) have some down time between requests.
