I feel like Type: Null's evolution was meant to be this big event. I was really disappointed when you fight Gladion he just suddenly has it. They better not have cut story bits out and to put them in Stars

It's just because it wasn't really character development. Take Silver who starts out as "Pokemon are tools" but by the end of the game he had a Pokemon that evolves by friendship. But Gladion was never established as not being friendly to his Pokemon, only other humans. So it doesn't quite work.
