You can use Sky Uppercut on something using Fly. Not sure why you wouldn't just switch out but you can do it.

Stomp can miss against a target who has been Baton Passed Minimize.

Fling is an interesting move that outside of competitive battles isn't touched on much. Depending on the item flung, you can cause little to major damage, and sometimes effects such as curing the opponent from stat changes or poisoning them.

Because of the specific way in which IVs were passed down through breeding in gen II, the game was able to recognize that a parent and its offspring were related by comparing their IVs, and they were prevented from breeding with each other.

Of course, it's possible for any two Pokémon acquired through methods other than breeding to also coincidentally have their IVs line up in a way that makes them appear related, and therefore there is a small chance that otherwise compatible Pokémon will be unable to interbreed in gen II.

I believe it's more how in Gen I (dunno about Gen 2), you can't inflict a status on an opponent that has the same type as the move you're using. That was later retconned to being an actual feature - you can't use the spores and leech seed in grass pokemon, you can't poison poison or steel pokemon - but it also meant you couldn't paralyze normal types with Body Slam, for example. Twineedle being Bug would bypass that "protection".
