>go to Rt. 1 and surf right outside the prof's lab and head to the bubbling spot westward from it
>fish, if you don't get what you want, just have Lapras go back towards the shore till the route changes and head back to that spot
>repeat until Corsola
I went from spending 2 hours with no luck to getting 2 Mareanie's in a half hour. Just remember they won't call for help if they're paralyzed.

It's not random at all. The same spots always have the ripples. If you leave the area and return, the ripples will be there again. Arguably worse than random though.

South one closest to the lab, I think there are a tiny gaggle of Corsola near it too.
I haven't gone back to check the island but I doubt it's anything past some item or a trainer.

It's decent and gets past things that set up. The cool thing about Mareanie/Toxapex is that even if the attack doesn't kill it, the poison will just make up for it. You can leave an enemy with 30% health after attacking and then use Baneful Bunker the next turn to let the poison finish them off.
