I don't know about that but I've been feeling more engaged with the various character shenanigans in this game than.. basically anything since Fire red.

I've just finished my SECOND playthrough of the game already.
By time I finish the champion in a pokemon game, I'm usually tired of it and just slog through some post game stuff before getting bored and moving onto the competitive side of the games.

Sun and Moon however nail just about everything.
Do they have some flaws? Well that goes without saying, there isn't a flawless pokemon game and there never will be, but in this games case, the flaws are minor and the positives are huge.

Yes. I hope Ohmori takes over Masuda's job forever. He is the superior male and knows what's up despite being a newbie. Masuda should be ashamed of himself and commit Senfaku immediately.

The story itself is pretty standard, but the characters certainly seem to draw you in much more than the usual pokemon game. I felt much more invested in the well being of my companions than I have in pretty much any other title.
Still doesn't excuse losing 3v3 though.

It's all in the delivery. Even if two characters had the same writing behind them, proper body language can turn them from a tired archetype to an endearing friend. I don't want to sound like graphics whore, but I really think these games gave Pokemon the means to express itself in a way it couldn't before.
