That actually bugs me because I feel like that was a hugely missed opportunity but maybe I'm just a little bias for FE. I've never heard of this "Conquest" series before that crossover came out. I will, however, acknowledge that Pokemon Conquest was received well.

Since the dust from that has LONG settled, I believe it could be cool for them to revisit the pokemon/fire emblem idea.

I think it could go two different ways which would ultimately depend on whether Intelligent Systems or Game Freak develops it.

Either it, more or less, plays like a Fire Emblem game with turn based strategy gameplay while somehow incorporating pokemon as units/support OR it plays like your garden variety pokemon game just set in a more fire emblem like era. I wouldn't mind an FE/Pokemon crossover's setting to be that of a big war that took place in the distant past.

I actually enjoyed TMS#FE. That being said, that one turned out to be its own thing that incorporated elements of both series instead of a traditional crossover.

I think an FE/Pokemon crossover would end up taking the same route. It probably wouldn't be canon to the rest of either series and I'm sure Intelligent Systems would come up with new characters for it. They'd just tread it like a new FE, I feel.

If I remember correctly, the director said he wanted to make a Mario Muso game, and the director of Pokemon pipped up, "Yo, if you're making Nintendo themed Warrior games, why not Pokemon?"
