its in the grass around the lakes you're surfing. i don't remember if you can get one before the trial technically starts, but if you can find a patch of grass in that area then you're golden.

It's around the secound pool of water where you fight you secound wishiwashi before the totem one.
Just swim around on the lapras and you will find it
