Starter genders locked?

I understand that, but I'm save scumming and worried that my save point is after a point where the starter gender is locked in at male. I know it's 7/8|1/8 but still going through three damn eight-pick cycles with that one not hitting is getting on my nerves

The game generates stats and gender when you get your starter, not before. You'll get your female eventually.
