Another opinion that's almost exclusive to /vp/ is that gen 6 was bad. Not even kidding, go outside the /vp/ bubble for a few hours and you'll see that people loved gen 6.

Team Skull is literally the best written thing in any Pokemon game

Them and some Hau/Gladion moments are the first times I've ever genuinely chuckled while playing Pokemon

I'm having tons of fun, my only issue are the encounter rates.
Been boxing all my pokemon that either evolve or are way more high leveled than the rest of the party to keep things challenging and to complete the dex faster.
I'm used to planning my team and only using it until the endgame, finishing with 300 seen but only ~20 caught so this change of pace is great.

Honestly this was probably the most complex Pokemon story yet.

Not I said most complex, not that it's very complex. But considering it's a kids game, it has more depth than most rated M AAA games do.

Just got to the second island. I'm really enjoying it, I just find the cut scenes after cut scenes to be to much at times. There's a few others things I could nitpick, but there's also things I feel vastly improve on the franchise if they remain. I'd give it a 9/10 so far. It's looking like it will be even better than RSE when I'm done.

Seems to vary.
The Gumshoos Totem was damn near unplayable for me (worse than a Horde Battle), but the others have all been much, much better (I only just got to Ula'ula, though).

Wishiwashi was perfect. Salazzle lagged a little, but no worse than a Double Battle in Gen 6.
UB-01's battle in the Aether Foundation (the one from the trailer where the player actually shows emotion for the first and only time) lagged a little as the Totem aura activated, but other than that, it was as smooth as Wishiwashi.

It's strange that Totem auras effect the framerate at all, because trades and evolutions are both smooth, and those have way, way more particle effects than a Totem.

I wasnt going to get it but I'm heading to the 24 hour Walmart. Pure curiosity got me.

Even when I was a kid, I didn't like running around and talking to people for no reason in the old games. Now it's ridiculous. Kids these days don't play Pokemon to read text. Kids don't even read half the text anyway so what's the point?

I didn't know it was possible to make a more disappointing game than X and Y. This game is literal fucking shit. It's a god damn book in a hallway with locks on every door. I'm genuinely disgusted at this new formula. There's so much pointless fucking dialogue in the game that pic related is now me.

The only real flaw I could find is the cutscene railroading, which is particularly painful during the introduction. Other than that, the games are great.

I'm not that far into the game though. My main complaints:

I know it's an RPG and there were cutscenes in other games, but it was never this bad. I didn't buy the game to watch poorly rendered characters talk to each, I'm here to play Pokemon.

I'm enjoying running in the grass and fighting, and sometimes the trainer battles though.

Fucking amazing, there's a ton of fixes and improvements we should have had like 3 gens ago. I'm surprised that most Alolan pokemon suck. They mostly all either have shit stats or poor move pools. It kind of reminds me of Flareon having great physical attack but no physical fire moves to use with it. I've picked a team of six to use, including my starter, but they're all the absolute best that I've seen, I haven't had to choose between any.

Picked up moon copy at midnight for my friend while I ordered Sun from amazon in June. My amazon copy isn't shipping till Monday and I dropped my 3ds in the toilet when I got home from work with my moon copy in it.

Great region, cool evil teams, ride Pokemon as HM replacements are Sun/Moons strongest sides I've found

However, it still suffers from mostly the same problems as the last 1-2 generations did, namely too much fucking talking (gen 5,6), severe performance issues and small selection of new Pokemon (gen 6). Also no post game, but that one will hopefully be fixed in the upcoming Stars version for the Switch.

I like the random interactions with people in the town. Feels way more lively. The lady riding her Machamp at the graveyard was so surprising considering how serious the topic was.The 1st island surprised me because after the Kahuna I went exploring. They tell you places to go and you may miss them like Ten Karat island or the Cave in the meadows. And the difficulty is there if you're unprepared. Very good.

Feeling alright about it- so far so good. Just finished first Team Skull encounter. Off the bat though the hair options are quite limited (no ponytail for females) but that's a very small complaint that equates to "they didn't have the specific style I want."

Interestingly enough, dialogue is very funny and other times straight up wierd. I got moomoo milk from the cafe and the bartista said something along the lines of "so good it'll make you wish your mother was a miltank"

After experimenting a bit I'm 90% sure that the starter's gender is biased 87.5/12.5 towards the players gender. So if you are the girl you get more girl starters and if you are the boy you get more boys.

I just hit post-game and I really enjoyed it.
I barely scraped through the League and just encountered the Mega Evolution guy and only won because my Arcanine managed to dodge and then sponge 3 physics due to level 5 affection, where can I do some XP grinding? Should I be letting pokemon call for help? Are there any big-buck XP pokemon that are easy to find?
