Encore is the best move ever against AI, holy shit.

You can win any totem battles by just spamming Screech then a physical move, the totems cant switch meaning they cant evade stat nerfing at all.

It's definitely the hardest one so far. Actually felt like a proper boss fight which is not something I've seen in a Pokemon game. I wound up using Struggle Bug several times with Cutiefly to neuter his Special Attack and then had Fomantis Razer Leaf the rest to death gradually. On the third island now and have had no trouble with the others except for that first dance from the Marowaks.

I'm not even overleveled, totems and kahuna fights have been consistently 1-2 levels above me. Totems make the game harder to solo through but they won't give a balanced team any trouble.

The closest I was to dying so far, and the only time I had to heal in battle was when I almost got swept by the teacher at the school's Meowth. Smeargle was no big deal at all, I just yawned it with Slowpoke and set up curses.

Mallow's was definitely the hardest. Kiawe's is challenging but Salazzle can't heal, and the Castform antics are way worse than Wishiwashi's bullshit. I went in with a Salandit that just learned Flame Burst feeling all confident and got shit on pretty hard. Had to switch around a lot.

Doesn't help that they can definitely tell what move you're gonna use.

Yea, wishiwashi felt much easier than Laurantis, at least trying to one shot it. First time through in the grass trial I faced a Castform ally, leading to 1 turn solar blades and broken synthesis after a sunny day. Had to try again, and faced a trumpeak ally that resulted in a one shot. Definitely a hit or miss trial.

I did like though that even though it felt easy mode leading up to it, the totem battle wasn't super easy. That's not a bad feeling at all.

Bird does massive damage with Pluck when he's not confusing you and Castform fucks fire types and changes weather to give Lurantis single turn buffed solar blades.
