Intimidate is strong in doubles. He has access to great utility support for doubles (e.g. Fake Out, Taunt, Snarl, etc). He's got very respectable 95/90/90 bulk. And even uninvested hits from 80+ BP attacks off 115 Atk is sizable.

He's not some amazing OP Greninja tier threat, but he's a good package, and one that arguably outclasses Arcanine for the dedicated Intimidate utility tank slot.

Yeah there are definitely differences. Arcanine has recovery, like you said. But they are fairly similar pokemon in terms of the overall role they fill, and some people are saying that Incineroar might actually be the better choice overall.

If Incineroar do end up top tier in VGC, it will probably be because dark type makes it immune to Prankster moves.
