You don't have to know another language to look up derogatory words in other languages. Pokemon named with such can be seen by speakers of those languages after/during trades and battles.

That's because the bad word list is stored on the 3DS itself, not the game card.

That also means you can hack your 3DS to delete this bad word list, and then you can use ANYTHING you want.
