Are there any preliminary competitive sets out yet for any of the new mons or Alola Forms? I know the game came out today but the .cias been out for ages.

If not, let's make some! I'll start with the easiest shit in the book: Toxapex

Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpA
Bold Nature

I heard Merciless could be useful, but Toxapex isn't really an attacker? Regenerator seems more useful at any rate.

While this is true, one can also argue that with the high powered attacks you're able to get out of Merciless it can become a very potent attacker. Venoshock, for example becomes a 292.5 BP move. Together with natural bulk and reliable recovery, it can be potent. Not top tier by any means, but definitely something that can catch a few opponents off-guard.

This sounds like so much fun
but I can't wrap my head around what other moves to use, 4 moveslots seem not enough for this thing.

I guess toxic is a given or it's setup fodder.
Merciless sounds more fun if the opponent can't switch too.
Then you want some recovery, so slap recover on it.
Now we're at
Merciless with
Recover
Infestation
Toxic
and probably venomshock
but this way it has no coverage
take any move away and the set breaks apart.

Any suggestions how to make infestation work?

If you're using merciless there's not reason not to go with venoshock, you don't need much coverage anyways if you're choosing when it's worth to stay in and trap

Makes little sense unfortunately, it has bad coverage and doesn't hit nowhere near hard. Look into arceus' sets to see what are the benefit of multi type, movepool wise

Weakness policy on a slow mon is really wasted, and both stabs look better than sandstorm/ID (you won't have time to setup like that)
