Fighting-type resembles discipline, whereas darkness resembles scrapping. Someone who has discipline would do better in a one on one fight all else being equal.

It's why Scrafty gets SE damage from fighting types. It's your standard thug, it doesn't know how to take a punch like a boxer or another well-trained martial artist does.
