I think it has potential. He has a unique signature attack that hits hard, but no real opponent would fall for that. Its sorta like Dugtrio, where the presence of Arena Trap influences your opponents plays, since no one wants to hit you with a physical attack, you could bring it in on a physical attacker who has to switch out fearing Shell Trap and use Will-o-Wisp, Draco Meteor or another fire stab according to the mon who will most likely switch in based on the opponents team. Also has a good typing.

Single player it's great. Free massive damage on any physical attacker with Shell Trap.

Not going to go anywhere in competitive though. It doesn't get Rocks, Spin, Spikes, or any sort of real utility. The only major things it has are Shell Trap and Dragon Tail. A damn shame it doesn't get Lava Plume, but hopefully that will change in the next game.
