Idk the design just feels "meh" to me. Like GF just thought "Hey how can we make literal normie bait? I know we make a knockoff Pikachu with a fake sad backstory that somehow applies to the whole species" I really don't like things like Cubone or Mimikyu that have weird backstories that fit everyone in their species for some reason.

I guess I'm a bit of a contrarian about it too, because its extremely popularity on here just makes me more confused. (But it being popular isn't the only thing i dislike)

I don't see it as "cute" but more kinda bizarre. The fact it needs to cover itself to even be seen by other and it tried mimicking pikachu, what it saw as "loved", is bizarre. Having a ghost type that craves attention and genuinely wants people's love be a pathetic reject is a good concept in my opinion. Gameplay wise its found in one area with a 1% encounter rate, definitely not a large species. The mimikyu that do exist have decided pikachu is what they need to mimic to survive.

The costume thing for Mimikyu makes more sense than Cubone though, it could be a culture/tradition thing that most Mimikyu do to attract mates and trainers, like Mandibuzz wearing bones.
