Secondly, there is no perceivable difference. You'll only notice when comparing the new system and the old as you play in real time.
No worries.

Moon's been running fine on my launch year 3DS. Only drop I've noticed was at the Totem after it summoned help, and some brief stutters in cinematic cutscenes that use the battle models.

The game in general gives me a headache for some reason, though. Everything about the UI just feels rough outside of battle.

I assume if the demo was fine on your original 3DS then the actual game will run fine as well.

I don't know if the demo and the final game differ in optimization, but I played the demo on the old 3DS and the framedrops in the totem battle, especially when it called allies, were horrible. No framedrops in the totem battles on the New 3DS.
