CN and now Disney do not actually 'fund' Pokemon directly, they pay a license fee for permission to air the show, sometimes exclusively like with this case. The Pokemon company funds the dubbing of the episodes into English, and get all the VA choice control. They then merely sell the show to a network to air.

It's most likely just a case of CN purging everythign it doesn't actually own/ exact same thing happened with Naruto when it went to disney XD for a bit with shippuden, though the network changed Viz still did the dubbing like always.

Said hiatuses are so random that last simmer steven universe was supposed to cam back in august but then out of no where cn reschedules it to return in September. No explanation for the sudden change and it came after the creator's blog had announced the show's return date and it was also listed on tv guide. This was around a week before the new episodes where set to air.
