To be completely honest, I kinda like how it looks.
The new style fits to this completely happy and colorful atmosphere the show seems to have. Sure, it seems way more "childish" than before, but it's aimed towards kids anyways.

Only Ash is a bit weird. The way how his head looks kinda "squishy" and those expressions he makes all the time make him look kinda out of place. Even with the show overall being all this happy-go-lucky and lighthearted and stuff. Don't know, he's a little bit too much I think.

As someone who hasn't bothered with the anime since the end of the Indigo League, this is pretty cute. The JP music is as fun as ever, and this is the most cartoony stylization I've seen an anime. Seeing squash and stretch everywhere is great, I welcome it, I just hope the fluidity stays in the anime itself and the quality doesn't tank, ending up as the "off-model" inbetweens during still shots.

Alright so here's the thing.

X and Y was great. In comparison to all past series and what they both accomplished and attempted, X and Y was the biggest success. The animation was beautiful, the main cast had development, and all of Ash's Pokémon had personality and effort put into them.

Sun and Moon will be different. It's not going for a shonen-lite kind of anime like X and Y, so any comparison is moot. That being said, I could see myself enjoying this, because it looks like a far more character-driven show than a battle-focused one. Judging by some shots in the OP, we'll probably get a couple cool battles, but it won't be the main focus.

I think I'm gonna like this. Mallow a qt, and Kiawe looks like he'll be pretty cool.
