Super Mystery Dungeon is the best game to come out of that generation. Customising my trainer was my favorite feature of XY.

And horde battles, i will miss the braindread-easy EV training.

How much this gen simplified IV breeding and EV training was what got me more into competitive.

I was a truck driver at the time it came out. I could not reserve it since I was OTR (Over The Road) so I bought the game somewhere in Central CA (I believe it was somewhere near Fresno?) Anywaysthe one thing I can say that was great about it was the introductin of Amie. Had a lot of fun raising pokemon while parked at docks waiting for a load and it gave me a chance to raise pokemon I would have never normally raised.

All the QoL changes brought in

Despite the low amount introduced, this is the first and only generation where I've really liked almost all of the designs. Gen 7 kind of failed in this regard for me personally because I feel like most of them are gimmicks and the designs were built around those gimmicks.

Music was really nice

Megas were a pretty good addition that brought some spark back to the franchise. Really sad to see that they were pushed aside in favor of Alola Formes.

Petz: Pokemon Edition

I'm a sucker for deepest lore so I liked the inter-connectivity between XY and ORAS' stories and all the small details elsewhere.

It added some great new Pokemon, I really liked Megas and I'm sad that they're seemingly kill going forward, QoL changes were all for the better and I enjoyed the wild Pokemon variety in XY. Really from a pure core gameplay standpoint gen 6 was the best it's ever been imo.

It's everything else where XY and ORAS fall completely flat for me, enough to make it my least favorite gen. I'm glad it's over.

I'm going to miss the super comfy maps. The breeder, a nice long road, a battle house and the berry farms were all in the same place. I never bothered with breeding before as it was a pain in the butt to do, but such nice map design made it so easy and comfy.

...those mega stone sunsets over the water as I sat by the castle with my favorite pokemon... so beautiful.

I logged over 400 hours into this game. That's the most of any Pokemon game since Crystal for me. It was like a second home full of friends during some genuinely sad and lonely times.

I'll always have a part of me there.

What a shit summary of Pokémon. How is RBY God Tier? They just don't hold up.

ORAS might have lacked that third game polish, but they also gave us fun, interesting villains. They took a fresh direction with Archie's and Maxie's characters that worked really well. And sure, Admin Tabitha put on about 200 pounds and Matt and Shelly were abducted and replaced with completely different people, but they were *likable* different people, and probably the first admins that I've really given a shit about. And the soaring was definitely better than in fucking Guardian Signs.

As for XY, they were underwhelming compared to most Pokémon games, but I liked the aesthetic of Anistar City and its mysterious crystal sundial. Super Training was also fun.

I had fun, thats all that matters to me.

Trainer customization is something I've wanted in the series for a very long time.

I'm pretty sure I'm in the minority but I loved the roller skates.

EV training was great.

It was nice to finally see the main series in 3D.

Hordes were fun.

I spent more time than I'd like to admit making my Trainer PV.

I enjoyed the in-game social aspect of it.

Super Training and horde battles made proper evs a snap.

Pretty solid generation overall. Though if it wasn't ORAS this generation would have been a 6/10 for me. I wished GF would've given a proper ending to X any Y with a sequel or even a Z version.

Believe it or not, I'm a genwunner and after Black and White I'd almost lost the will to play Pokémon.
XY made me come back and I really liked the games. I know it wasn't perfect at all, but I'll always remember this VI generation as one of the best. And even if this is effectively Gen VII, I see Sun and Moon as the last step of the 3D era before the next console, just like Gold and Silver were the top of the GB era.

The only reason might be that the Switch won't have a second screen and new pokemon games might be released on it. But it's still not a good justification.

XY were very disappointing to me, just like BW, but Mega evolutions and some legit well designed pokemon kept my interest afloat.
The real gem for me was ORAS and I am thankful for getting it. Despite being hyped for SM, I know I'll keep playing ORAS for a very long time, even when the new games will drop by.

Not true, I have played since Red and Blue and they are some of my least favorite games, the only one below that is gen 5. I actually hate the gen 1 pandering, even if there is a lot of it. What I liked about XY is that they brought a certain magic back to pokemon I felt it had lost in 5. I cannot even say what it is even but gen 5 didn't have it.

I forgive D/P for being clunky and slow because they were the first pair on a new system; same reason I forgive R/S and X/Y for its shortcomings. However, D/P were fixed with Platinum, R/S were enhanced with Emerald but X/Y stagnated with ORAS.

The stagnation continues with SuMo.
I sincerely hope we get Eclipse that has at least a third of the post-game that Emerald had.

Crucify me for saying this all you want, but I enjoyed almost everything about them truth be told
The region was nice and chill, and had ton of diversity in the areas, and rather nice route music
No need for hm slaves for main paths was a fucking god send
The ease of getting IVs and EVs allowed everyone to easily access the competitive scene with ease
The battle house allowed you to rematch all the gym leaders, which was unheard of for the first set of games
It was in 3d, with full models of pokemon and rather unique attack animations for each so everything has a personality
Regional dex was fucking HUUUGE and rarely did you see the same pokemon in the next route or cave, and it allowed for whatever your heart desired as a team
Most characters had something interesting about them, and the few that were legit annoying and just demon spawns didn't bother you too much except in the beginning areas
Some areas were just fucking beautiful like the anistar sundial
Megas were rad as fuck, and some looked funny too
Story was also interesting, with ginger Hitler trying to commit his fourth Reich and wasn't some jackass who was deceived by himself or others, and no bullshit last second shoehorning like gen 5 did
Every pokemon design introduced was pretty fucking great, even the key was great personally, as it was just fucking silly
Fairies are Cute plus I like pink so that's a bonus, although them slaying dragons is fucking stupid personally but I don't mind
Customization was another god send as well, allowing the journey feel personal
All starters were fucking amazing, I adore delphox the most as I'm a sucker for witches and pyromancy

And that's about everything I loved about it, and yes I know there are flaws and shit, and fat fuck with ginger boy toy existing as characters, hence I said most, but this is about what X and Y did RIGHT, not wrong, but I honestly think ORAS is a fucking mistake, so I have nothing good to say about that one, except megaswampert

X/Y were very ambitious and they ended up having the worst story, characters, and location and really needed Z version to make them look better. It sucks GF abandoned the lore of Kalos but honestly if it means never going to Kalos again then so be it.

ORAS was great until the postgame and then it fell so flat it sucked the whole game of fun. But it felt like an ok remake of my nostalgia games.

Overall a weak gen and I'm glad it's over but I won't forget the good it did.
