I'm playing X for the first time now. Just got the Poke Flute. It's fun, I think I like it more than BW and any other first version released so far.
The new Pokemon are shit though. I only like 5 or 6 and they're nowhere to be found. Being pretty much forced to use only old Pokemon is bullshit.

This gen was a transition into the 3D world and ultimately a step in a new direction, hopefully for the better.

Goodbye! Despite what good gen 6 did I'll mainly remember it for the bad. Hopefully there's never a gen I dislike as much as it again. Gen 7 is already a vast improvement.

Thank you X and Y for the introduction of Kalos and some of the good pokemon there. I really loved Yveltal and would love to keep him in the next gen. ORAS thank you for letting us relive Hoenn though not in its emerald amazement it was still nice to be back in that region with its twists on the delta episode. You guys deserve a good rest and should be proud of what you accomplished.

I managed over 100 hours in Y, friend safari + completing my living dex and some other fuckery kept me playing for a while. I really liked XY at first but the more I thought about them the more I disliked em and now I can barely go back to them.

Omega Ruby I only put 30 hours into. Beat the story stuff and never returned. My lowest non-replay game time in a Pokemon game by a large amount.

I loved X&Y and liked it more than Sun. Not trying to start a war, just my opinion.

For me, seeing all the pokemon in gorgeous 3d with amazing animations for the first time was a huge thrill, and sun/moon has no feature that compares to the pleasure that gave me. That was such a big deal. I also loved the Kalos region and the diversity of pokemon in the early game.

Friend safaris were fun, there were lots of places to battle like the Chateau and Maison, lots of quality of life improvements like O-powers and breeding changes... pokemon designs were mostly great... it was good.

If the level scaling hadn't been so broken it would have been near perfect.

Great new Pokemon, loved Megas, breeding improvements were heaven, Exp Share was godly for leveling stuff up to 100 faster, EV training being made a joke.

As for the actual games, the music was great and the region would have been amazing if Gen 6 had gotten a third version or B2W2 style sequels. And even then you still had stuff like the Chateau and the largest city in Pokemon history to have going for you. A shame about the entourage of unlikable rivals, although at least Tierno had his stupid dancing gimmick to make me like him. And the less said about in-game balance, the better. Having a huge regional dex was nice though and between that and Friend Safari made the Pokemon Bank wait much easier.

No Battle Frontier and took me a long time to warm up to it, but goddamn I've really come to like the games. Technically not as good as Emerald, but Emerald's so backwards compared to modern-day Pokemon (no physical/special split being the biggest one) that going back would be incredibly hard. You're fine in my books.

For reference, both of them I logged about 250+ hours, which is decent but not super large (usually it's 400+ hours for me, with White 1 getting 800+ somehow).

Gen 7 spoilers:
Sun/Moon are so much worse than either one of you. No gyms was a mistake, the level curve is still wonky even with Gen 5-style EXP, your "rival" is more annoying than any of the Gen 6 rivals, and Lillie is the most shoved in your face NPC in Pokemon history to the point where my biggest regret is that you never get to destroy her in battle. Or punch her face in. Or do anything that doesn't revolve around her to some degree in regards to the plot.

Lillie was a mistake.

The most fun I fucking had on this piece of shit gen was using a Wonder Trade bot to try to complete a dex. I paid $80 (actually $160 counting digital) this gen and it's all worth it just for Wonder Trade.
