I love the Hoenn trio, mostly because of Rayquaza. I'll never forget climbing Sky Pillar in Ruby to see this majestic dragon just waiting for someone.

I hate almost everything about Gen VI but they honestly have the best-designed box legends. Gen V for best lore.

SM Trio is the Light Trio.

Solgaleo = stars = creating light

Lunala = moons = reflecting light

Necrozma = prisms = refracting light

The Gen 6 legends are astonishingly well-designed.

I've never seen anyone say they "look like Digimon".

I would say that each trio is representative of some sort of equilibrium, so any of the trios that convey a very clear representation of equilibrium are the best.

I personally think that the R/S/E trio convey this very well with the weather concept. Not complex or anything. Very easy to understand, but are very vital as a trio.

SM is alchemy trio

I like Xerneas and Yveltal on their own the most design wise, though Zygarde ain't that great. Groudon, Kyogre, and Rayquaza have always been good all around and probably come out on top. Reshiram, Zekrom, and Kyurem are pretty deep conceptually and I respect them for that, but from in-game events I've never been impressed by them, or their designs.

Don't care for Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina at all. Nor Cosmog's evos and Necrozma, but I haven't played SM for myself to make a true assessment. I'd already put them a bit over DPPt's though just because Cosmog is top cute and its connection.

Design-wise the weather trio
concept-wise the creation trio
Gen 5 and 6 trios are pretty meh, but I like the lore behind Gen 5 trio more. Sun/Moon (cosmos?) trio is between creation and BW trio.

I love Gen 6's most. Then maybe 5? Never cared much for the Weather Trio. Gen4 would be higher without Palkia.

Giratina is antimatter and that has nothing to do with space/time

Kyurem the wuji, barely represent his thematic.

Zygarde the order its an unfitting third whell to the duality of life/death.

I dont even know what the fuck Nekrozma its trying to represent, but doesnt looks like something that has something to do wth sun/moon

Best to think of Solgaleo and Lunala as a duo, because for now that's what they are. Necrozma is too mysterious to judge how it fits in yet, and Solgaleo/Lunala are connected via Cosmog.

Xerneas felt like such a breath of fresh air after all those dragons, and Yveltal had a cool design itself.

And the whole Kyurem/Reshiram/Zekrom/Original dragon thing was really well done.
