To be quite honest what's on Smogon doesn't seem concrete enough, and if that's really the gist of the story I don't understand the hype behind SM.. I think I'm missing something here.

And how exactly should I have framed the question differently? I just really want to know if SM is worth picking up if the story is as bad as I think it is - I've only read the Smogon story spoiler thread though.
