9/10 is on the money. Great game with the only real downsides being handling of cutscenes and handling of framerate.
>>29943548
gamexplain said the lag basically doesn't even exist on the new 3ds
>>29943505
9.0 out of 10, generally acceptable amount of water.
>>29943505
Pokemon is the most overrated game in the world
>Reading shillviewsThe games are actually good, but who the fuck trusts game reviews nowadays?
>>29943505
You can't spell ignorant without IGN, but then again, half of those sites use arbitrary numbers and don't really mean anything.
In other news, /vp/ can go fuck itself, these are good games.
>>29943578
Nobody with a brain owns that shit
>>29943627
says the poorfag who can't afford an N3DS
>>29943613
Nintendo Life is honest with everything it reviews but that perfect 10 could be a 9.5ish judging by how they wrote it.
>>29943505
>Eurogamer - Essential
That can't be true.
>>29943646
Speaking of new 3DS, if somebody was interested in one, should they go for that $100 regular n3ds deal going on right now or a regular n3ds
It's missing
>/vp/: At least it's not ORAS/10
>>29943578
I have a n3ds and the framerate is noticably worse in double battles and during Z-moves.
Not a single review mentioned how the region design takes a nosedive after the first island, and now unfinished it feels with locations that are inaccessible with no explanation and loading screens teleporting you between huge stretches of land, and sometimes through an entire huge volcano with nothing inside.
It feels unfinished and literally no review mentioned any of this. I feel like I'm going insane and my copy is completely unique.
>>29943653
It is tho.

>>29943505
Every game in the series reviews well and the normal Pokemon experience but kn THREEEE DEEEEE is bound to go down well with people who play the series in passing. A similar thing happened with XY, and the fans loved it at first. Took a while for the reception of those to go down to lukewarm as the 3D wares off. Since we have experience with Gen 6, I expect the SM hype to wear off sooner.
This doesn't mean much is what I'm saying. Even if I like the games too.
>>29943505
I can't take reviews that give a game a perfect score seriously. Sounds too fanboyish and no game is perfect.
>>29943677
new one definitely
>>29943505
I'm expecting Gamespot to be the first negative review.

Was not expecting them to give it a good score, but Sun and Moon are still great regardless

If people are interested and want it. Notable in that you can customize its faceplate unlike the XL
>>29943677
honestly, I wanted to get a regular one, but they didn't fucking sell them in north america until recentlyand even then they were fucking bundled with a game I bought 4 years ago and played the shit out of countless times
I personally don't think it's worth it for an XL, but if they have a 100$ deal, I think you should go for it
>>29943723
DigitalSpy and iDigitalTimes are weirdalso Eurogamer
>>29943704
Of course it is, but it's still leagues better than on an OG 3ds
>>29943711
Wow, what the fuck. Didn't expect that.
>>29943709
Because not everyone is sharing your shit opinion, nigga.
>>29943627
Does nobody with a brain own it because everybody in the fucking world bought their first Nintendo console when there was only a regular 3DS?
Haha, oh shit, that's right! That makes no fucking sense and you are in fact the one without a brain!
Plenty of people are starting their journey on a console series that they would've otherwise cast aside, all thanks to Pokemon SM, or similar well-received games that get people pumped. It makes no sense for those people to fuck themselves over by buying an inferior console that a decent chunk of people just happen to be stuck with or aren't willing to buy a new version of.
>>29943817
They are facts though.
If you played the game you would know that much of the second and third islands are not explorable and that random buses show up to make you skip entire routes that should be there but aren't.
>>29943817
>>29943709
I think people don't think about certain things when reviewing the games. They mainly talk about story, music and battles. I haven't seen a review talk about region layout or pacing outside IGN's correct assessment of the amount of water in Hoenn
>>29943709
I feel like you're just being a negative nelly because you're butthurt about the starters, or your favorite didn't get a buff, or whatever.
>>29943709
Honestly, only the hardcore pokemon players care about that kind of stuff.
Pokemon isn't really held to the same standard as other RPGs. The series has this sort of charm that can colour the perspective of someone who doesn't play it very often.
Masuda and Ohmori may have been smart to try and appeal more to these players.
1. Nintendo shills
2. Not everyone is as jaded as you, you stupid fuck. People legitimately enjoy things.
>>29943868
Not him but
>has an opinion that isn't positive
>must be le butthurt
>>29943505
Wasn't expecting to see so many almost perfect scores really. I'd agree with 9/10 personally, but I didn't some of those sites would.
>>29943709
Reviews in general rarely talk about level design in any meaningful way.
>>29943889
It is mostly positive, but the drop in region quality and how many areas are seemingly cut from the game is so blatant that I find it extremely weird that no review mentioned these things.
Like look at the golf course, it's obvious that it was meant to be an explorable area, yet it's blocked off forever. There are many instances of this.
>>29943889
>clearly samefagging
>Not him but
bugger off, I see through your ruse
>>29943840
The fact that you can't explore every corner displayed in the region map is nothing new in Pokemon. Actually, we had a thread yesterday where people marked the areas you can't visit of each region with red color, and surprise, other regions were even more restricted than Alola.
And what do you mean with "random buses"?
>>29943505
Missing tons of reviews that pretty much call it one of the most linear Pokémon games to date, with little replayability, tons of slowdowns and no challenge.
It feels like a great entry... if the last Pokémon game you played was Red / Blue.
>>29943950
Well it's one bus, but it basically shows up to take you to the top of a mountain despite a road clearly being there in the minimap.
There are other instances of teleports like that, but they aren't buses. The second island volcano teleporting you to the exit as soon as you enter it was something that I had never seen in a Pokemon game ever, at worst they'll have a few tunnels representing a much bigger cave, but there was always SOMETHING there, not an empty loading screen warp.
>>29943920
Most reviewers haven't played Pokémon games since the late 90s. Plus, they don't care about post-game and are more than happy to move on after dealing with the Elite 4.
>>29943920
>how many areas are seemingly cut from the game is so blatant that I find it extremely weird that no review mentioned these things.
Because they likely didn't notice. You're overestimating the scrutiny given by reviewers and the average player.
>>29943985
>Well it's one bus, but it basically shows up to take you to the top of a mountain despite a road clearly being there in the minimap.
And you can backtrack that fucking road without riding the bus. There are even several trainer and items.
>>29944060
Only like 1/4 of it, the rest is still blocked off.
>>29943627
>he plays on a computer from 1990 and gets upset when it can't run new games
Nobody with a brain buys new computers
>>29943505
Pokemon always get high scores even in japanese mediums (Famitsū)
Your average casual fan doesn't care if the region is lineal as fuck and the game has tons of cutscenes, they care only about the new gimmicks and pokemon
>>29944075
Yeah, but what's exciting about going through an awfully long, narrow and boring road? They already put a good amount of trainer in that first quarter.
>>29943938
>more than one person can't disagree with me
>>29944002
This. These are good reviews for the average player, but for someone who closely follows the whole franchise its kind of surface level
>>29944141
>Pokemon always get high scores
Not true, Emerald got bitchslapped by reviewer.
>>29943963
>If the last pokémon game you played was red/blue.
That could be the case for some people..
>>29944178
Seriously? Emerald, of all things?
>>29944216
Breh, reviewer were already iffy on Ruby/Sapphire. And the fact that "definite versions" always get lower scores than the first releases didn't help Emerald either.
>>29944216
76 on metacritic, the lowest rated main game.
>>29943578
I don't believe that at all after all the lag in the totem battle during the demo.
I guess we'll wait and see.
>>29943505
Reviewers are biased, what of it?
>>29945494
Yeah, because you shouldn't, there's definitely still a shit ton of lag, from first hand experience on the N3DS
>>29943578
WRONG
>>29943548
and the 1% encounter rates of a good 14th of the damn pokedex.
Like every pokemon I wanted to actually use in a playthrough is either found in the final stretches of the game or has a stupid 1% encounter rate. Like who the fuck thought this was a good idea?
>>29943578
i think his eyes are broken, because even a overclocked n3DS still has lag in double/totem battles and in the Festival Plaza and other places.
>>29943610
i love pokimon but YES, GF should give the franchise to real developers

>>29948544
How much of a difference have you noticed between the new and old 3Ds?
>>29943505
Story Praising Rabid Maniacs.
Just because a game has a G O O D story doesn't make it auto-good.
>>SPeRMs
Or maybe they rigged the leaked versions?
ORAS also has 83% on Metacritic, even though it's a 70% game. Pokémon will always score extremely well. You literally cannot trust reviews, especially if you care about things like post-game since battle facilities are almost never considered in major reviewing sites.
How can anyone justify giving a game with such horrible framerate issues (particularly since they've had three games' time to solve them) a perfect score?

Seems like the demo didn't utilize the N3DS clock rate. I was ready to trash this shit due to the awful frame rate but it's not bad at all in the main game. Imagine the framerate you get in the trainer battles in the demo. That's what the worst slow downs have felt like in the main game.
