I was able to unlock more by what would appear to be getting ALL the way to Red in the battle tree, though I lost against him so I don't think you need to beat him as long as you can reach him. Not that I know of personally, but I do know of something similar. There's friendship meals in the Festival Plaza where you can raise their friendship by "lowering their base stat". They cost FC to varying degrees, but they do in fact lower EVs.

It's how I made Ash Greninja not a mixed attacker.

Be careful. The move relearner isn't until the E4. Make sure your pikachu gets thunderbolt or you'll be fucked. His Z move also only works with thunderbolt.

To wake up the IV checker, you have to catch enough pokémon for your PC to get double boxes. Dunno how many is required, but it happens without any notification, you go into the PC, and then the boxes are just there.

Talk to him, and he will add the judge feature to the Box system, which lets you see the screen in >>29930035

Actually there's another small purpose to switching. It switches the day table, so if something is only catchable during the day/night you can go to the other universe to swap it so you can catch it.

It's the same as always, chain a bunch of KOs against specific Pokemon, except now they happen in the same battle, as they'll call for help at low HP.

Or you can leave them in the PC (PokePelago) and order them to train while you go to work/school/sleep.

Option 2 is pretty damn handy, as they'll train for however long you tell them to, and gain a specific amount of EVs per half hour.

When other players visit your plaza you can copy their favorite shop into your own plaza.

When the game comes out multiple people are bound to get the really good shops like the 5 star EV/EXP ones, then that shit will spread like wildfire. It's like Friend Safaris all over again, except better because it multiplies and gets copied infinitely.
The system is designed so people share their shops, it doesn't work properly offline, it's not going to be that horrible at all.

For the IV checker, somebody try hatching 30 eggs with Tauros. That reportedly did the trick for someone.

Mareanie can be caught in the Melemele sea by fishing. You get the fishing rod on the second island. Look for ripples in the places where you can fish, try to find a Corsola, get it to low hp, and it will eventually summon a Mareanie.

There's a LOT of weirdly inaccessible places in Alola, especially that Golf Course. Also the later islands love to put loading screens to teleport you from place to place, going as far as teleporting you from the entrance to the exit of an entire volcano, with nothing inside.

I won't say my thoughts on this matter because I already did for the last 3 days on /vp/, but needless to say I don't want this to go unnoticed or unpunished, and reviewers are all ignoring how unfinished the region feels past the first island.
