It means the version number wasn't right on the leak. We'll get a nag for a nonexistent update in the eshop. Just back up the save, delete the leaked cia version, and download the official version off freeshop.

It would be funny if the game was deliberately made to stymie leakers and dataminers because a day 1 patch will change everything, but I don't think they are that clever.

I don't think anyone would be willing to waste that much resources on fucking with pirates. Generally it's just a few small things that make the game impossible or irritate the player.
