Really soon you get Wishiwashi (who gets ridiculous stats in school form), bounsweet (Tsareena gets 120 attack and a fighting move), Dewpider (whose ability doubles the power of water type moves it uses)

Salandit's relatively soon too and its evolved form is frail but has good speed and special attack, along with a cool typing

Ribombee is decent, you can nab its prevo already

Finally golisopod is cool, even if it's slow as shit

Cutiefly + evo is absolutely solid. Wishiwashi is an early game monster that falls off a little bit as time goes on but is still very solid until the end, it just wont be destroying everything by looking at it when you hit the E4.
Raichu is decent even if the electric moves it has are kind of limited for a bit, but it gets Psychic when it evolves so that does just fine for a while.
Minior is 3rd island but is actually ridiculous once a few EVs are put into it. You usually get 2 guaranteed turns while it has its shield up to do whatever you want (it gets Cosmic Power not long after you get it so you could set that up for the Core) and then the Core form cleans house. Once it gets Shell Smash it becomes death.

By EVs I just meant progressing as normal. If you wanna go full Smogon I'd say focus on whichever attack stat you feel works best (mine had -SpA so this was easy), and then put a little into the speed and defences. It likes EVs everywhere except the attack stat you arent using really. It doesnt even need heavy speed investment, the core form is a speed demon on its own
