What's the deal with Bottle Caps?

Sure OP go ahead and waste them all on Ditto

Bottle caps don't actually change the IVs. It sets a flag to treat the stats as if they had 31 IVs for stat calculations. They don't pass on through breeding, but they also don't screw with your hidden power.

Bottlecaps don't change IVs directly, they just change a bitflag to make them seem to be maxed. So useless for breeding.

Bottle caps only raise the stats itself - it's a stat boost, not an IV boost.

So if you have a 0/0/0/0/0/0 Ditto and use a Gold Cap to max all of it's stats, it's still a 0 6IV Ditto, so if you breed it, your pokemon will be dumpster tier.

Bottlecaps don't actually raise the stats, they just make the stats be effectively maxed in battle. On the plus side, you can have any hidden power and maxed stats. On the downside, Hyper training doesn't help breeding at all.

Guess it's time to PKHEX, I just don't have time anymore.
