When I first played Emerald I released my starter out of sheer curiosity and actually didn't care because I thought it was meant to be shit. On the other hand, the Wynaut I got from that one egg really stuck with me and as a Wobbuffet became a permanent part of my team.

I released my starter in HGSS, and when the Togepi egg hatched and I saw that it was female I decided to keep it, even though I wasn't that big a fan of Togetic. I'd used Togekiss in Platinum, but I didn't like that you couldn't find a shiny stone easily. I thought for sure I'd be stuck with a shitmon.

But I was wrong. She utterly wiped Morty's shitty gym and has been a great part of the team.
