Primarina fits Denmark better as it has the Mermaid statue and it's also a country with seals. The map is more related to animal species, although lore can also work if there's no clear place to put a Pokemon.

I'm Nigerian so maybe can make some suggestions to fill in Africa a bit.

Torterra should be in southern West Africa where the savanna meets the jungle. That encompasses both the ground and grass type, plus turtles are important to West African mythology.

People in South East Nigeria also worship pythons as emissaries of the earth goddess, so any snake Pokemon works there. Serperior probably fits better thought since pythons aren't poisonous and its regality theme.

Whiscash and Gogoat also work in Nigeria because they're pretty important stable foods. Goats horns are also representative of the gods of strength and the sky.

People in West Africa pretty much survive off yam/starchy roots. I guess the most potato/root like Pokemon fits?

Reptiles are pretty much everywhere too. You find them like you find bugs and rodents in America. I think a lot of the more reptile like Pokemon and lesser genertic Dragons can fit.
