Posting the same from yesterday. The idea is to have the challenger switch into a toxic spikes and sticky web, get hit with Confuse Ray, and finally be slammed with Venoshock. An anon from the previous thread suggested the battlefield be surrounded with LCD screens that project trippy images. I liked that idea.

Thanks. I like how it turned out as well. If I had to change anything it would be Pheromosa for Buzzlowe, maybe. Both are cool new Bugmons.

I like yours a lot, too. Toxapex is one of my fave new mons and Drapion is a long time fave.

We should all PKHex each version of our teams and create a catalog of /vp/ gym trainers, so when someone is playing through SM, they could take on "gyms" between the trials and other stuff, according to the level they're at.

ORAS secret bases really made things easier. It's a shame SM doesn't have something similar.

My idea is that trainers would take an elevator down a volcano. They would go to lower levels leading to special training caves where they would battle against other trainers until finding my character.
Also, I think Diancie is considered a minor legendary, right? The idea is that a Carbink training under the pressure of a volcano would eventually mutate and become a Diancie.

By "Gauntlet of Battle Variants" I mean that the first trainer you fight in the gym would be a rotation battle, then the next would be a triple battle, third would be a double battle, fourth would be an inverse battle, and, finally, a regular battle versus the gym leader.

Assuming the theme means how the team works, in which case, I'm not sure that most of the pokemon here actually work all that well. Azumarill and Carracosta might, but I'm not convinced about others, like Golisopod.

Concept: slimes and minerals

a trainer who uses pokemon to extract their substances and create drugs and chemicals, sells them in the black market, aspired to catch a nihilego which is literally crystal meth in pokemon form..

Pokemon: Goodra, Alolan muk and reuniclus are technically "slime" pokemon, while nihilego and steelix are floating minerals, porygon is technically a mineral pokemon (egg group, synthetic)

Gym: an underground pharmacy, filled with cauldrons, test tubes and computers

Battle plan: entire team is bulky with a wide variety of coverage attacks, reuniclus, nihilego and porygon Z can all use trick room to confuse the enemy, and the rest of the team (goodra/alolan muk) have elemental punches, mega steelix can exploit trick room and use curse + gyroball.

This is a poison gym. Inside the actual gym looks like a large landfill, with mountains of garbage, some of it on fire, looming in the distance.

All the gym trainers have gas masks on with similarly themed teams.

Gym Leader himself is an old man. He gives his Gym Leader "spiel," a lecture on how we treat the planet and human impact on environments, in between fits of loud coughing.

Rate me bros. I had a hard time filling in my slots to be balanced while trying to stay unique.

My gym would be a multi-leveled maze where you have to use switches that control heavy machinery, such as bulldozers and cranes, to clear the way or open up new paths. The trainers all use either the Alolan Grimer or Trubish lines as well as various other poison-type Pokemon. Double battles are the format in the gym, with Toxic+Venoshock/Merciless combos being the main strategy to teach trainers the importance of team synergy.

This is mine. A circus theme. The roles are pretty self-explanatory, but: Mr Mime is a clown/mime, Magmar is a firebreather, Infernape is an acrobat, Donphan is a circus elephant, Incineroar is a strongman, and Pyroar is the circus lion.

I just imagined it in a certain way in terms of what an anime adaptation would have it look like. A lot of it just has to do with the colors of the Pokemon glowing if they were to be in a dark, blacklight room. Plus, the attacks they can do would also add to the theme effect. Though, it really is just a ragtag dark type team.

There wasn't really an attempt at thematic cohesion throughout the badges.

The whole idea of it was swapping pokemon in and out of the party trying different strategies till the strongest emerge victorious.

Gym is a library, and the gym leader occasionally goes to small/ancient communities around the world to document their cultures, returning with new Pokemon based on where he went (Sigiliph from an ancient desert temple, Exeggcutor from a tribe deep in the jungle, etc.).

I say rolling log, but really beating a trainer "rolls" the log and allows you to progress further.

A gym based on a murder-mystery-like mansion. To get to the gym leader, you have to figure out which of the trainers in the gym is the "murderer". They give you clues when you defeat them.

Scrafty is supposed to represent lowlife criminals. Punks, drug dealers, that stuff. Hydreigon is a bit of a stretch but it's supposed to represent how crime is like a hydra: when you cut a head, two appear in its place.

Ok, here is my gym.
-It's located in a spanish fair like "feria de abril" or some other in a similar fashion
-The leader is a gentleman who works as a spanish pure blood horse breeder (In this case mudsdale is the most fitting horse pokemon)
-Oricorio is a good choice because of the location of the gym.
-Tauros because of the bulls being the national animal (Nothing to do with bullfighting)
-Luxray because of the Iberian Lynx, a famous indigenous animal (and in danger of extinition)
-Gallade / M-Gallade because of the rich medieval history and chivalry.
-Tapu bulu because of the same reason as tauros
