what ROM hacks are worth playing?

Pokemon DarkCry (or DarkCr on ebay) is pretty hilarious just for the random NPC and sign messages

Drayano and nothing else. Autists can't write or create anything of value so the only good romhacks are the ones that deal solely with balance.

IIRC there is not that much pandering. In Light Platinum you can find and sometimes battle with Ash, Blue, Gold, Ruby, Red and others. It's fun.

OP here. thanks for the suggestions. gonna download the ROMs on my android and play them during my trips to my brother or when im bored.

There's tons of roms hacks of the original game like blaze black and storm silver that improve the game in terms of difucluty curve and movesets and therefor make them more playable for adults.
I recently finished storm silver which is really hard. There's one challange where you take on ALL previously beaten gym leaders/team rocket leaders and elite four and get like one heal every 5 battles. It's so fucking hard. I got my ass kicked with only like 3 trainers left after 3 hours.

I played Snakewood through for a bit. The original premise was zombies but the further you got the further it strayed from that. It seemed like the creator just kinda made whatever came to mind while working on it.

Custom pokemon games are pretty great too.
only problem is most are unfinished and are sparely updated.
legends of the arena and insurgence are some of the best i can think of.
eitherial gates is looking pretty good too, if only thyed finish it.
