Appropriately differentiating itself from Galvantula.

The risk with any two Pokemon of the same type is that there'll be excruciatingly similar in stat distrubition. Especially with Bug and Electric, which have such limited movepools, it couldn't have just been another fast frail special attacker. Also physical electric types suck so it was the right thing to do.

Being a slow special tank is good.

Having it's evo location be the equivalent of victory fucking road is not cool.

You know what's even less cool than near endgame location evolutions? Making it change its primary offensive stat on evolution, leaving it in an awkward transition period of having nothing but thunderbolt and discharge to work with until it can relearn bug buzz, which it has likely long since passed.

You know what's even less cool than that? Putting the move relearner outside of the FUCKING ELITE FOUR.

At least the move relearner is better now, they can teach moves your Pokemon will learn at higher levels now too. Vikavolt also seems to learn thunderbolt no matter what level it evolves at, so you can just spam that for a couple of routes.

But Vast Poni Canyon is basically Victory Road since the actual path to the E4 is short and has no trainers.

That's the thing, at the level where vikavolt would learn bug buzz, charjabug learns x-scissor instead.

At least eviolite charjabug is surprisingly solid, you'd' think carrying a middle stage bug to that point would be harder than it is.
