Yeah, they aren't legendary. Just monstrosities from another dimension that found a way into ours.

Apparently they are all technically Pokemon, but in their world evolution took a MUCH different course and they ended up like they are. Their DNA is so drastically different however that our usual pokeballs have issues identifying them as Pokemon, so the AF made special balls for them.

Keep in mind that Sun and Moon has been breaking tradition and blurring the lines between what a legendary and a regular pokemon really are. Take the mascot legends for instance; they have pre-evolutions.

I like to consider UBs their own thing, personally. Stats of a conventional "legendary" pokemon but puts a spin on the legendary concept.

Their stats aren't equivalent to a legend though. They all have totals of 570, that's even less than the legendary birds.

They are also much more common than any legend. We've NEVER been able to capture multiples of the same legend in one game before.

They're not unique, when you visit Ultra Space in the story you can see 5+ Nihilegos lingering about the area, so they're probably quite ordinary over there

Buzzwole is not op but very strong. He gets ice punch and poison jab, not to mention if he ever manages to kill someone with fell stinger. Also superpower has no downsides because of beast buff. That thing is a killer machine.
