I recently played through White for the first time, and, despite some setbacks, (I was 6 levels underleveled against Ghetsis FUCK Hydreigon and 4 levels under for the elite 4) he ended up carrying my ass through the E4 rematch and sweeping 3/4 of them and then KOing Alder's Volcarona with a crit earthquake. I also would like to nominate Blaziken as my second favorite since he kicked ass in the OG gen 3 games, and came back with a badass mega.

Surprisingly tough choice. Eevee is my go-to option without a doubt, but as I think about it I can't help but mention Nidoqueen. In my SS nuzlocke, my Nidoqueen, Queen, was such a valuable teammate, so it was heartbreaking when she got bodied in Clair's gym.

I'm a huge fan of Psychic-types and Gardevoir captures their refined feel really well. As a Fairy-type Gardevoir, while once an inferior Alakazam in battle, can now hold off many of the Dark-types which are very harmful to most Psychic-types. Technically Slowbro and Bronzong have been among my favorites for longer but Gardevoir's various dex entries suddenly made it shine to me.

I'm also very attached to Empoleon and Darkrai. Empoleon because it was my first started and Darkrai because it was OP as fuck with it's dark void when I was a kid.

My first Pokémon game (and one of my first games ever, because my parents were one of those "vidya games will rot yer brain" types and didnt ease up on that until i was ten) was Explorers of Time. When I had just got that game I was kind of going through a penguin phase, so I was really hoping that I would end up as a piplup (which I knew about from TV ads from Cartoon Network). Imagine my disappointment when I discovered that I wasn't a Piplup at all, and was instead a piece of shit monkey. I didn't consider resetting the game for a different result, as I thought that the game's test was 100% accurate and that it would be lame to answer the quiz dishonestly, plus I felt that the nature of "Naive" suited me, even if I didn't want to admit it. So I decided to set Piplup as my partner instead as a compromise.

What I didn't expect was for Chimchar to grow on me so much while I played. I soon discovered that monkeys were cool in their own right, and man, was that ember move STRONG!

A year or so later I picked up Pearl as my first "real" game, and played it using Chimchar, but this time by choice. I barely used anything else aside from him, and I believe he was fully evolved right before I entered solaceon town. I also fondly remember OHKOing Wake's entire team with fire type moves (I knew very well how stupid this was, I was just doing it to see if I could).

He's been my bro ever since, I just wish I could find the White version that I transferred him to. If my math is correct, he should be about eight years old now.

I usually have that 1 best pokemon with each gen that I keep and transfer over when the next comes out (ex: Lopunny for gen 4, Tyrantrum for gen 6) But my hands down bro of all time is Sawk.

I use one on my Trick room team in doubles, and almost always lead with it and a setter. Facade hitting neutral is stronger than SE hammer arm so only use it on things that resist it. Crunch is reserved for ghosts.

I had only played Pokemon Blue. As a kid, my parents wouldn't get me the newer generations, because I already had Pokemon, so eventually I fell out of the series.
After X and Y had been out for a few months, a friend talked me into trying them out, said that I'd love it. And the idea of discovering over 600 new Pokemon was exciting, so I picked up a copy.
Game was fun, about what I expected from a Pokemon experience. When I finished, my friend asked if I wanted to learn how to breed, and gave the the reasons why people did. Sure, sounds fun. So using my starter, he walks me through the breeding process with a 6iv ditto he sends me. Goes through natures, evs, ivs, the whole shebang.
After learning the ins and outs, he says I should pick the next one I'd like to make. Looking through a list of over 700 monsters, once I saw Weavile, I knew that this was the one I wanted. Didn't know it's type yet, it's movepool, or if it was even any good, but I fell in love and wanted one.
I still love the little bugger to this day.

Dunsparce, even as a kid I knew it was mostly useless. I never saw anyone acknowledge its existence, and in every Pokemon game it just kind of existed with no purpose. But as a kid I looked at Dunsparce in my pokedex and made a pledge to never forget Dunsparce's existence, and that's how this little guy became my bro.
One day he'll get an evolution, but hey dragon rush and air slash are cool for now.
