I honestly think B2/W2 had the best regional dexes, followed by Platinum's.

Maybe I like the former more because after a game of all brand new pokemon (B/W) we get to remeber old favorites, pretty much every route had usable pokemon.

Unlike X/Ys, which made the world feel bloated.
Like they made batches of 5/6 pokemon and just dropped them all in a route they didn't even think it through.

What I liked about B/W2 were that old pokemon didn't outweight the new pokemon.

And GF decided to put the player's favorite before even the 3rd gym, like Mareep, Growlithe, Magnemite, Riolu.

Shit was much better than "hey, for the next 10 routes you'll get 60+ pokemon you have already played to death and like 5 usable new pokemon"

The dex is good but the encounter rates are terrible, not to mention a lot of cool mons/evolutions only when the game is almost over.

I only know this with corsola and carbink so far from other anons and testing corsola specifically, but sometimes instead of summoning help in distress, the pokemon that preys on them shows up after noticing that they're injured and tries to take them out. The crown of thorns one, mareanie, can show up on occasion when corsola is hurt, and sableye shows up when carbink is hurt. Kinda helpful since both corsola and mareanie are really rare if you want them early game.

Not the worst in the franchise, but it felt like "We're trying to please everybody BUT NOT YOU GENWUNNERS" (maybe that's why /vp/ loves it so much). It did have a bunch of big fan-favorites in them but hardly any were from Gen I.
