Kneejerking aside, it carries over the heavier focus on character interaction from BW, but it takes itself a bit more seriously. It also has better animation and a more likable female lead. Unfortunately, it kind of tips too far in the other direction near the end and begins taking itself too seriously for its own good.

But it's Pokemon and no season is without flaws. It's still one of the better ones.
